Pinwheels / Wrap Sandwiches

Pinwheels are mini-sandwiches that are fun to eat. They look fancy, but are easy to make. You can use wrap bread, a tortilla, or even regular bread. You can put almost anything you can think of in a wrap sandwich, from peanut butter/jelly to meats/cheeses and vegetables. The most important thing when trying to create a healthy wrap is to use whole grain bread (look for 3 grams of fiber per slice), and to include some favorite vegetables. Anything goes... try cucumber, peppers, carrots, tomato slices or even pickles!

  1. Lay down your tortilla or wrap bread and spread with a thin layer of cream cheese, hummus or nut butter
  2. Top the bottom 1/2 to 2/3rds of the bread with deli meat or cheese (if desired)
  3. Place sliced vegetables in a row about 1/3rd up from the bottom of the tortilla/wrap bread
  4. Pick up the bottom 1/3 of the bread and fold over and around the vegetables.
  5. Keep rolling the rest of the bread tightly around the roll, making sure the top edge is sealed with cream cheese, hummus or nut butter
  6. Slice in 1 inch sections and serve!
