New Product Finds

Pin It Now!

A few weeks ago I found organic uncured Applegate Farms beef hot dogs that are made with grass fed beef (so the fat is higher in omega-3 fatty acids and CLA like our ancestors ate). Each hotdog is 110 calories, 3 grams saturated fat and 7 grams of protein. These nitrate-free hotdogs are remarkably low in fat and calories compared to others and taste great (unlike the turkey or chicken hotdogs that made our guests ask if they were tofu).

Another exciting find was a new non-organic Perdue chicken nugget. Four of these baked chicken nuggets with whole grain breading are 160 calories, 2 grams saturated fat, and 10 grams protein. They don’t mention fiber so obviously the “whole grain breading” is just for show, but at least it is better than some other options.

Lastly, just in case you weren't aware, Barilla PLUS pasta is one of the best healthy great-tasting pasta options out there. Unlike regular whole wheat pasta, which can have a heavy bitter-taste, flaxseed omega-3 enhanced Barilla PLUS is light and cooks up nicely al dente. Each serving contains 4 grams of fiber, 0 grams saturated fat and 10 grams of protein.
